Split expenses on a group trip
Record what the trip costs, split each expense across the people it applies to, and settle up at the end — all beside the itinerary.

Steps
- Open Expenses on the trip — The first time, choose a currency for the trip so every expense is comparable.
- Add an expense — What it was, how much, and who paid.
- Choose who it splits across — Use "Split with" to pick the people the cost applies to — not every cost is everyone’s.
- Watch the balances — Your balance shows what you are owed or owe. User-wise balances break it down per person.
- Settle up — Settle balances records who paid whom. Notify everyone tells the group there is something to settle.
- Finish — When nothing is outstanding the trip reads "Everyone is settled up."

- The trip currency is chosen once, at the start — pick the one you will mostly spend in.
Frequently asked questions
Can I split a cost between only some of the group?
Yes. Each expense has its own "Split with" list, so a taxi three people shared is not charged to everyone.
What currency are expenses in?
You pick one currency for the trip when you first open Expenses, and everything is recorded in it.
How do we settle up?
Use Settle balances to record payments, and Notify everyone to prompt the group. The trip shows "Everyone is settled up" when nothing is left.
